The Court of  Appeal sitting in Abuja today November 17 affirmed the Kano state election Petition tribunal judgment that sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and declared APC's Nasiru Ganuwa winner of the March1 8 election. The state tribunal in its judgment delivered on September 20, 2023 nullified INEC's declaration of NNPP's Abba Yusuf winner of the election.  The lower court had declared 165,663 votes of Yusuf  invalid on the grounds that they were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Yusuf's votes were then reduced to 853,939 while those of Nasir Ganuwa, his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, remained at 890,705. Yusuf had rejected the tribunal verdict, which he described as “unfair” and “a miscarriage of justice”, and headed to the appeal court. Singer Portable's Wife Petitions Police Over Claims Of Threat To Life By DJ Chicken Omobewaji Ewatomi, wife of singer Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has petitioned the Nigerian police over claims of threat to life and character assassination, amongst other claims, by  Disc Jockey Ademola Abiodun, aka DJ Chicken. In an Instagram post on Friday, Ewatomi, in her petition, claimed DJ Chicken tried to blackmail her with claims of having her sex tape. Ewatomi disclosed that she called his bluff; however, this did not dissuade DJ Chicken, who continued to harass and even threaten to end her life and that of her family. N48.8bn fraud: Strike stalls Ibeto’s arraignment The nationwide strike embarked upon by labour union, on Wednesday, stalled the scheduled arraignment of the Chairman of Ibeto Energy Development Company, Cletus Ibeto, before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. The trial judge, Justice Ismail Ijelu, had on November 3, fixed November 15, 2023, for the defendant’s arraignment after ordering his arrest. The bench warrant issued by the court followed a motion moved by the counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), who informed him that the defendant had failed to appear in court despite hearing notices repeatedly served on him. The EFCC had charged the defendant, alongside his companies, Ibeto Energy Development Company and Odoh Holdings Limited over an alleged N4.8bn fraud. Controversial cleric Anthony Kahura Mwangi alias Pastor T who raised eyebrows when he claimed that he slept with HIV-positive women and still remained HIV-negative, has offered a clarification.    Pastor T had claimed earlier that his confession was misinterpreted. He also disclosed that the incident happened while he was in a secondary school. The cleric also said that his wife is not bothered by the conversation on social media in regard to his confession as she already knew about his past.    He said;   "That was a story that happened while still in high school. I have a problem with bloggers picking certain bits from my teachings just to get views. I have children and the context of the message I was delivering was misinterpreted because they just uploaded a small video and not the whole message. “She already knows my past, and she understands my story. We decide what to check on social media."

The organised labour has suspended the nationwide indefinite strike which began on Tuesday, November 14.

The organised labour has suspended the nationwide indefinite strike which began on Tuesday, November 14. The strike was called off hours after the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, met leaders of the organised labour over the nationwide strike.  Ribadu had also said that those who caused the strike by attacking Nigeria Labour Congress chairman, Joe Ajaero, have been arrested.

He added that most of these women are from social media Facebook and Instagram especially. The actor also disclosed that he usually always makes out with them in a guest house to prevent people from talking. He also disclosed that he can get a cheap guest house for 30ghc for a short time. When asked if the ladies enjoyed it, he stated that all he wants is to ejaculate and once he reaches that limit, he doesn’t care about how the ladies feel.

 Aircraft skids off runway at Port Harcourt Airport An CRJ 900 Bombardier aircraft belonging to ValueJet Airline skidded off the runway at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State. Details of the incident are still sketchy at the time of filing this report but it was gathered that it happened around 3:30 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.   The Airline in a statement said the aircraft had stopped on the runway and executed the second turn when it encountered a slip due to algae on the taxiway. “The CRJ 900 Bombardier aircraft with registration 5N-BXR landed safely with passengers wondering what could have happened because the airplane landed safely without difficulty. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterparts, have resolved to commence the planned nationwide strike from midnight today, November 13. The labour unions agreed to embark on strike is to protest the assault of the NLC President and others in Owerri, Imo State on November 1, as well of the pending labour issues in Imo State. They had on November 7, resolved to declare a nationwide strike by Tuesday, November 14, if their demands were not met. JUST IN: WAEC adopts CBT for SSCE The West African Examinations Council on Monday announced that it had ditched the paper and pencil test model and has adopted the Computer-Based Test mode for the conduct of the Senior School Certificate Examination. This is contained in a statement signed by the acting head of the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC, Moyosola Adesina, and released on Monday. According to the statement, the innovation would kick off with the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates in February 2024. In line with global best practices, the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council wishes to inform the general public, and all its stakeholders, that it has concluded plans to migrate its WASSCE for Private Candidates Examination Diets from Paper and Pencil Test to Computer Based Examination,” the statement from the body partly read. Stella Maris did the post in reaction to allegations flying around that she is trying to divert the money donated for Mr Ibu's treatment to use in funding her lavish lifestyle.  Stella Maris is now alleging that Jasmine is the one spreading the rumour. Hope Uzodinma declared winner of Imo governorship election Governor Hope Uzodinma has been re-elected as the governor of Imo state.  According to the results announced by Professor Abayomi Fasina, the Returning officer the election this morning November 12, Uzodinma of the APC polled a total of 540, 308 votes. His closest rival, PDP's  Emeka Anyanwu polled a total of 71, 503 votes while Labour party's Athan Achonu polled a total of 64, 081 votes.

Migrant Rescue Watch disclosed this in a post on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. According to the post, the suspect allegedly k!lled the baby with chlorine and buri£d the body in a shallow grave on the farm where he works.  “Western Region Support Forces arrested a Nigerian #migrant worker for intentionally killing his own newborn baby. EFCC finally brings Emefiele to court  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally produced the former Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, in court for the hearing of his bail application. Emefiele has been in the custody of Security agencies for over 149 days. Last week, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court ordered that the former CBN boss be released unconditionally or be brought to hear his application for bail. Dressed in a yellow Kaftan and a cap and flanked by operatives of the EFCC, the former CBN Governor arrived at the courtroom at about 12:30 pm.P

Four young rice farmers have d!ed when a boat capsized on a river in Hunki village, Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.  The youths, from Ubbe district of Nasarawa Eggon, were crossing river at Hunki village from their farm rice on Monday evening, November 6, 2023, when the tragic incident occurred. The victims have been identified as Alkali Congo, Shedrack Dauda, Mashack Dauda and Akolo Moses.  Spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday said the farmers were returning from the farm when the incident happened. The PPRO stated that four corpses have been recovered by local divers while the boat driver is still missing.  He added that effort is ongoing to rescue him or recover his body.
