BREAKING: IG bows to pressure, vows to redeploy Imo CP before elections Ahead of the Saturday, November 11 off-season elections, the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has promised to redeploy the  Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde,  over alleged partisanship. He spoke days after the Nigerian Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress, the Labour Party, and Civil Society Organisations, called for Barde’s redeployment. Egbetokun made the development known Sunday night during a Channels Television programme themed “Peoples Town Hall On Election Security,” which was monitored by our correspondent. Egbetokun said, “We are aware that there are allegations against the Commissioner of Police in Imo. Before the elections, we’re changing the CP. This is not to say the CP has been found guilty. But for neutrality sake, we are changing the Commissioner of Police in Imo State.”

Singer Portable's Wife Petitions Police Over Claims Of Threat To Life By DJ Chicken Omobewaji Ewatomi, wife of singer Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has petitioned the Nigerian police over claims of threat to life and character assassination, amongst other claims, by  Disc Jockey Ademola Abiodun, aka DJ Chicken. In an Instagram post on Friday, Ewatomi, in her petition, claimed DJ Chicken tried to blackmail her with claims of having her sex tape. Ewatomi disclosed that she called his bluff; however, this did not dissuade DJ Chicken, who continued to harass and even threaten to end her life and that of her family. N48.8bn fraud: Strike stalls Ibeto’s arraignment The nationwide strike embarked upon by labour union, on Wednesday, stalled the scheduled arraignment of the Chairman of Ibeto Energy Development Company, Cletus Ibeto, before the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. The trial judge, Justice Ismail Ijelu, had on November 3, fixed November 15, 2023, for the defendant’s arraignment after ordering his arrest. The bench warrant issued by the court followed a motion moved by the counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), who informed him that the defendant had failed to appear in court despite hearing notices repeatedly served on him. The EFCC had charged the defendant, alongside his companies, Ibeto Energy Development Company and Odoh Holdings Limited over an alleged N4.8bn fraud.
